If you are checking your scholarship late at night, phone in hand, wondering whether the money has come or not, you are not alone. Almost every SSP student does this at some point in the year. The good news is that the portal itself answers the question — you do not need to visit any office for this. An SSP scholarship status check really has two parts, and keeping them separate saves a lot of worry. First, where is your application: has it been verified and sanctioned? Second, where is the payment: has the money actually been pushed to your bank? A delay in the first part looks exactly like a delay in the second part from outside, but the fix for each is different.
What you need before you start
For post-matric students (PUC, diploma, ITI, degree and above), you need your SSP ID and password — the same login you created when you applied. Forgotten it? Use the Forgot Password option on the login page — the reset depends on your registered mobile number, so keep that phone nearby.
For pre-matric students (classes 1 to 10), the check is simpler: you only need your 9-digit SATS ID. No password is needed for the status report.
How to do an SSP scholarship status check (post-matric)
- Go to ssp.postmatric.karnataka.gov.in and click Student Login.
- Enter your SSP ID and password, type the security code shown, and log in.
- On your dashboard, open Year Wise Student Status.
- Select the academic year you applied for, and click View.
- Read the two amounts separately: the Maintenance Amount, which is the part meant for your bank account, and the Fee Reimbursement, which goes to your college.
- Note the stage shown for each part — this is what tells you whether the wait is at verification, sanction or payment.
Do this check when you are not in a hurry — the portal can be slow when many students are on it at the same time.
Pre-matric students: the no-login route
School students do not need to log in at all. Go to ssp.karnataka.gov.in, open the Student Status Report link on the homepage, enter your 9-digit SATS ID, and the status of your application and payment appears on screen. If the SATS ID is not accepted, check the number with your school first — a wrong SATS number is a school-record problem, not a portal problem.
What the status stages actually mean
The exact words on screen can vary slightly between departments, but the stages follow the same order every year:
- Verification pending — your application is still waiting at one of the checking levels: your college, then the taluk or district office. Nothing is wrong yet; it simply has not been passed upwards.
- Verified, waiting for sanction — the checks are done and the application is with the department, but the amount has not yet been approved for payment.
- Approved or sanctioned by the department — the money side has been cleared. From here, payment is a bank process, not an application process.
- Pushed to DBT — the payment has been sent into the Direct Benefit Transfer system, on its way to your Aadhaar-seeded bank account. “Pushed” does not mean “credited” — a gap of some days between the two is normal.
- Payment failed or returned — the bank could not credit the money and sent it back. This is almost always a bank-account problem, and the next sections cover what to do.
SSP payment status check: is the money actually moving?
The most common cause of panic is checking the wrong amount. The fee reimbursement is paid to your college, not to you — it will never appear in your bank account, and its absence there is not a problem. The part that should reach you is the maintenance amount, paid through DBT into whichever bank account is seeded with your Aadhaar.
So a proper SSP payment status check works like this: if your status says the amount is sanctioned and pushed to DBT, the SSP side of the work is finished. From that point, doing an SSP scholarship amount credited check means looking in the right place: your Aadhaar-seeded bank account, which is not always the account you expect.
Why the money has not come: the usual reasons
1. Your Aadhaar is not seeded to the account you are checking. DBT money follows the Aadhaar mapping held by NPCI, not the account number in your application. Only one account can be mapped at a time, and it is the last account you seeded — open a new account or link Aadhaar at another bank later, and the scholarship goes there instead. Check which account is mapped at resident.uidai.gov.in/bank-mapper; it takes two minutes and settles the question.
2. The account is inactive or dormant. An account with no activity for a long period gets marked dormant by the bank, and incoming DBT credits to dormant accounts are rejected. A closed account does the same.
3. Your name does not match. The name on your Aadhaar, your bank account and your application must be the same person on paper. A spelling difference that looks small to you — an initial added, a surname written differently — can fail the credit.
4. The sanction itself is still pending. Sometimes there is no bank problem at all: the status is still at verification or sanction stage, and no payment has been sent yet. Always rule this out first by re-reading your status before visiting any office.
What to do, in this order
- Re-check the portal status. If it is not yet sanctioned, the wait is with the department process — visiting your bank will not speed it up.
- Check the UIDAI bank mapper. Confirm the mapped account is the one you are watching, and that the mapping shows as active.
- Go to that bank’s branch. Ask specifically for Aadhaar seeding for DBT (NPCI mapping) — these words matter, because ordinary Aadhaar linking for KYC is not the same thing. If the account is dormant, ask for it to be reactivated, and if your name differs from Aadhaar, get the bank record corrected.
- For application-side problems, go to your college. Your college’s nodal officer handles verification issues, rejected applications and document corrections on SSP. Take your acknowledgement and a status printout with you.
- Still stuck? Use the official helplines. The SSP helpline for technical issues is 1902. The Social Welfare Department helpline listed on the portal is 9482300400, and the portal also lists a WhatsApp number, 9036267776, for Social Welfare queries.
Central schemes: check PFMS as well
A few scholarships Karnataka students receive are central-sector schemes paid through PFMS (the Public Financial Management System). For those, there is a second place to look: go to pfms.nic.in, open Know Your Payments, and enter your bank name and account number. If PFMS shows a payment as sent but your bank shows nothing, note the transaction reference on that screen and take it to your branch — it is the one detail the bank needs to trace where the money went.
One safety rule, please follow it
Check your status only on the official portals — ssp.karnataka.gov.in and ssp.postmatric.karnataka.gov.in — and on pfms.nic.in for central payments. Scholarship money is released by the department through DBT. No agent, shop or caller can “release” it faster, and anyone who asks for a fee, your password or an OTP to unlock your scholarship is trying to cheat you. Never pay, and never share the OTP.

Frequently asked questions
I forgot my SSP password. Can I still check my status?
Yes. Use the Forgot Password option on the student login page — the reset is linked to your registered mobile number. Pre-matric students do not need a password at all; the SATS ID is enough.
My status says “pushed to DBT” but the money is not in my account. What now?
Wait a few days first — a push and a credit are not the same moment. Then check the UIDAI bank mapper to confirm which account your Aadhaar is mapped to. The money may have gone to a different seeded account, or the credit may have failed because that account is dormant.
The fee amount is missing from my account. Is that a failure?
No. Fee reimbursement is paid directly to your college. Only the maintenance amount comes to your bank account.
Can I check the status without going to my college?
Yes — everything in this article can be done from your phone. You need the college only when the problem is in the application itself: a pending verification, a wrong detail, or a document that needs correction.
